BOOK LAUNCH
The reviews that launch a thousand sales
Book!
Hi! I have a proper chatty newsletter planned for later in the week, where I will tell you about my trip to open farms day (featuring: sunflowers! strawberries! planting trees by a river!) but today my magical romance novella Bespoke and Bespelled is available for sale in all markets, and I am unbearably excited about it.
I love this book so much. I love practical, witchy Marnie. I love awkward, movie star Rider. I love the secondary characters I’ve built around them (some of whom are going to be getting their own novellas in the near future, so watch this space!). This book reminded me that I love writing, and reassured me that I could devote more time to my creative work - if I was willing, as Marnie is willing, to take a risk.
If you’re reading this and you’re like, oh right, I was gonna buy that, now is the perfect time!
Buy from Amazon USA
Buy from Amazon Australia (and New Zealand!)
Buy from somewhere that isn’t Amazon
If you’re like, Karen, of course I pre-ordered this book, I am already halfway through it, Marnie + Rider = 4eva, then 1) THANK you and 2) Would you consider writing a review?
Reviews!
There are three things that are responsible for the majority of book sales:
- Whether you’ve read something by the author before and liked it
- Whether you like the cover (statistical confirmation that we do indeed judge books by their covers!)
- Whether someone whose taste you trust recommends it
Number three is MOST effective when it’s personal - the friend who says I read this and I loved it, you’ve got to read it too, and then text me so that we can talk about what we think happened when Karen did that fade-to-black in the car.
But reviews from someone online are also very effective. And no, they don’t have to be five star gushes (although if you want to rate this book five stars and sincerely gush about it, I will be THRILLED). A one star review that explains “I don’t like books where the characters joke about their feelings” is very useful to a reader looking for books when the characters joke about their feelings!
If you have read Bespoke and Bespelled, and especially if you have read it and liked it, please do consider reviewing on the site where you bought it, or on goodreads.com. It makes a massive difference to visibility and sales (and my anxiety levels!).
And that’s it for now! Later in the week: Sunflowers.
