The Love Labyrinth - Free to Subscribers!
YAY, it's here, my first book of the year, and for you, IT IS FREE, at least for the next two weeks! Read down to discover how!
The Love Labyrinth started as an idea I had in the middle of the NZ Romance Writers conference last year, which is pretty much always what writing conferences and festivals do to me–a wild overflowing of ideas, coupled with absolutely no time to do anything about them immediately afterwards. (My friend and cover artist Alison Cooley floated the notion of taking a week off other responsibilities after the conference, an absolutely genius idea I will totally be doing as soon as money and time allow.)
Anyway, I was sitting in a room full of other writers, messing with a bunch of potential titles, and when someone hands a scrap of paper reading "The Love Labyrinth" to an author who retells Greek myth as contemporary romance and is ALSO a total nerd, she is going to think two things:
- The Labyrinth! The minotaur! Ariadne, that clever witch, aided and betrayed by Theseus, that smug fucker.
- OHOHOHOHOHO what if ESCAPE ROOMS?
Thus, Labyrinth Escapes was born, owned by Ariadne's older brother Andy, and Stirling, a huge, grumpy guy--one might even call him bull-like--with clever hands and a soft heart. Ariadne, clever and quick and a little wicked, comes back to town determined to prove herself to her high school nemesis, and maybe show off to Theo Banks, her old crush.
And lo, she and Stirling crash into each other, like unto an irresistible force and an unmovable object.

I thought it was going to be a cute little standalone short story, and then it became a cute little novelette, and now it's a cute medium-sized novella. I can write a short story under duress, I swear.
